Sandy Gibson
Co Director / Head coach / Barbell Head coach. Qualified as a Royal Navy PTI in 1998 and then as a personal trainer in 2000 I have been the head coach at Jolly Sailor for six very rewarding years. It’s a great challenge to program for athletes of all abilities from the ages of 16-75. I believe in keeping it simple and mastering the basics. No one is too good for the fundamentals! I also work closely with our competitive athletes - we have been very successful at multiple competitions as a team and as individuals. This is basically my dream job. ⚓️
Suzanne Gibson
Co Director. Retiring from the Royal Navy as a Physical Training Instructor in 2014 after 22 years, it only felt natural that the next stage of my career was to be my own boss and run a CrossFit Box. I currently run CrossFit Kids and Teens and also teach yoga alongside CrossFit. I absolutely love my job - it’s fulfilling, fun and so rewarding.

Sue and Sandy’s favourite son, have had no choice but to be there since day one. Loved every day of it, inspired me to further develop my teaching leading me on to studying sport and physical education at Cardiff Met University from which I recently graduated with a 1st class degree, and finishing of my masters currently. The box is a second home and every single member contributes to the wonderful community which has been made. I am currently the beginner barbell coach while taking on a couple of the weekly crossfit classes.

Coming from a MUAY THAI & MMA background, CrossFit was the next evolution of my fitness journey. 6 years later I’m a mediocre CrossFit athlete that enjoys fitness, yogurt and dropping some knowledge bombs once in a while. Playfully referred to as the Box Gnome, I am currently CrossFit Level 2 & British Weight Lifting Level 2 qualified.

Came from racing mountain bikes competitively and football before that. Hobbies outside of Crossfit - chilling with the wife and daughter at the beach, drinking coffee, cycling, running. Been in the navy for 20 years. CrossFit Level 1 qualified.

I found CrossFit to help with my football performance but shortly after starting CrossFit I fell pregnant with my daughter. After pregnancy I found myself falling in love with the sport and after a year pursued it to become a professional athlete. I enjoy and love every part of coaching CrossFit - the people I meet/coach and seeing each person improve and enjoying fitness.
